Henry BraunDark and Light
Suddenly it is not sudden
my standing beset
among the generation with made faces
on my own built hill
from which the words
reach further
and fall down from higher. On similar piles my peers,
Young one day and not so young
greying faster than they meant to grey,
startle like me.
It happened while we watched it
not really happening
in the dark and light of the sun.
the next and then young
once more--that was the way
and is. Maybe for a long time,
though time on the new plateau
one life wide
across from the others.
Henry Braun lives in Maine. He has published poems recently in Painted Bride Quarterly and APR.
