The American Poetry Review is happy to announce the winner of the 2026 APR/Honickman First Book Prize, Revelator by Ellie Black. Her book was chosen by esteemed poet Dorothea Lasky and will be published in September, 2026.
Ellie Black is a Visiting Assistant Professor in Poetry at Hendrix College. She received a PhD in Creative Writing (emphasis in memoir/autotheory) and an MFA in Poetry from the University of Mississippi. A finalist for the 2025 DISQUIET Prize in Poetry, her work has appeared in The Adroit Journal, Bennington Review, Sixth Finch, The Common, Washington Square Review, The Drift, and elsewhere.
